I qualified in June 1980 and moved to south London in 1982 to work for a local law centre. There I handled a range of court litigation, with an emphasis on housing casework. Between 1990 and 1997 I worked for a South London legal aid law firm, specialising in housing disrepair, homelessness, landlord and tenant, and personal injury work. I acted mostly for legally aided clients and did my own county court and magistrates' court advocacy. For many years I have been a member of the Housing Law Practitioners' Association. I advise leaseholders about service charge and other disputes with their landlords. I am the author of a number of published articles on housing law and I have run a local radio legal helpline. I have taught housing law and civil litigation procedure to post-graduate university students and am currently presenting courses to solicitors on behalf of the Legal Action Group. |
